God Knows You

God Knows You

July 12, 2010

By Hal Donaldson

A friend asked recently, "Do you really believe God pays attention to
every detail of our lives?"

Knowing he had not committed his life to Christ, I took the
opportunity to share Luke 12:6,7: "Are not five sparrows sold for two
pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very
hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth
more than many sparrows"(NIV).

"Then," he asked with a hint of doubt, "I suppose you believe
everything happens in our lives for a reason?"

"You can go to extremes with that belief like blaming God if you have
a bad hair day but, yes, He is engaged with every significant aspect of
our lives. The Bible says He knows us from our mother's womb until we
are laid in the grave. All things work together for good for those who
follow Christ, and that's because He's watching over us every moment
of every day."

That led to a brief discussion about what it means to be a follower of
Jesus. (I'm confident it's only a matter of time before my friend
surrenders his life to Christ.)
