~DEALING WITH GOSSIP AND IDLE WORDS~

~DEALING WITH GOSSIP AND IDLE WORDS~

"The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down
into the innermost parts of the belly."
---Proverbs 18: 8

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

How many times have you heard the old saying "sticks and stones may break
my bones
but words will never harm me?" This statement isn't really true,
as the Book of Proverbs tells us, "the words of a talebearer are as wounds,
and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly," (meaning the heart).
Once wounds are suffered, they must be healed, and can leave scars in
the lives of others.

Proverbs 11: 13 tells us "a talebearer revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter." The book of James explains to us how the tongue is a most deadly weapon, and is a " a restless evil, full of deadly poison."
Once a person has suffered the effects of words carelessly spoken, they
understand the old saying which says words will never harm, is not true.

How many people are there which we all have misjudged at times, or not seemed to see the good in, which God sees? Do we defend those as God does? And see that the Lord feels "all souls were something to die for?" Or do careless words spoken make others look bad, false, or of no value to others?

No matter how innocent one may think their words are, when another is made to look bad in the eyes of others, the tongue has released deadly poison. Gossip may be opinion, rumor, or even truth, but if shared in a negative manner, harm is done to another. Proverbs 16 says, "gossip separates close friends," (verse 28)
and "Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down"
(Proverbs 26:20). Careless words can start a fire of falsehoods
that is hard to quench.

Paul, the Apostle, spoke on the evils of idle talk and speaking in such a way
as to create a bad opinion. In Romans 1:28-31, he mentions gossip as a form of wickedness, along with murder, deceit, being God-haters and like sins.
In 2 Corinthians 12:20, Paul places gossip in the same group as jealousy, arrogance, outbursts of anger, and slander. This shows us the danger of the wickedness of backbiting and idle words spoken about others.

Many times, jealous of another person, or of God using them for His glory,
is the root of causing idle talk in the body of Christ, backbiting, and
discord, behind the backs of those who have done nothing wrong, but
as a result of such idle talk of jealousy, innocent people are hurt and
the Lord is grieved over the discord sown because of jealousy, in His body.

Jealousy is like a fire which spreads, causing hurt and wrong impressions,
thus idle words are spoken as a result. People feel torn down instead of built up and edified in the body of Christ. Feeling a need to appease the feelings of people who keep a jealous spirit and continually share their displeasure with their sister, or brother, spreads even more discord and many times causes problems which cannot be reconciled. Problems can be prevented by keeping a humble spirit before the Lord and loving one another as commanded.
Jealous has no place in the body of Christ when the Lord is being
magnified and exalted, in spirit and in truth. Yet, we see it arise, time and
time again, and must recognize the real root of many problems.

Jesus says we are to: "love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" (Luke 6:27).

If you've ever been a victim of gossip, you find the Lord helps you to pray for others, that their eyes may be opened to behold the error of their ways. Gossip can also be subtile, and words spoken can make others appear in a bad light, without actually speaking names. God looks at the motive of every spoken word, and knows what is in the heart of a speaker, when words are
spoken. He knows exactly If the message one is trying to get across will edify
in the body of Christ. If the message is meant to appease one or two, but tears down others in the process, we see the damage which can be done by idle words.

Many times people gossip when they are involved in a disagreement or personal quarrel, to gain support from others. In the process, they are divisive and their ways will eventually be exposed through truth. Gossip and slander causes people to believe lies, or the worst about people, and divides people. It causes people to change their views about others, and leaves them with an image of a person that is unfair and not true.

If one has been involved in the sin of "gossip" or "backbiting" they should repent and ask the Lord for forgiveness. They should also make reconciliation with the person they have harmed with their spoken words, if possible. It is
impossible to take back words once they have been uttered. Words are like
"feathers in a windstorm.' They are blown about and can never be regathered.
They are like a fire kindled that keeps burning. But, where there is no talebearer, the fire goes out.

The dictionary defines criticism as "to consider the merits and demerits of,
and judge accordingly" Judgments are opinions. Destructive criticism
can be condemnation, which can result in a final unqualified and unfavorable
judgment. If we see criticisms in a neutral prospective for what they really are,
they can lose their power over us.

If you've been a victim of idle talk or gossip, the Bible says, "Blessed are they
who persevere under trial." .....James 1: 12. Stand strong in the
power of the
Lord
, and know that no one here can walk through the lonesome
valley for you, only the Lord God is there beside you. We all live
and learn, and grow as the Lord teaches us His ways and will.
Remember, you were "something to die for" in the eyes of God.
Each person is valuable and loved by God with a love that cannot fail.

Destructive gossip has caused hurt to many hearts, as falsehoods spread
through the rumor mill. Constructive criticism is different, and has a goal to
help one, and build them up in the long run. We should be able to
distinguish the difference.

One can either be 'crippled or challenged' by criticism or gossip. We learn that
constructive criticism can help us be transformed more into the image
of the Lord. We should never disregard criticism that could be helpful to us,
or let destructive criticism stop our efforts and work for the Lord. In all things
we are victorious when we acknowledge the Lord in all our ways, and do not
lean to our own understanding. Our choices in dealing with criticism will
determine if we become "bitter or better." The only right choice is to yield
to God and let the Lord make us the best we can be, for His glory.

Let the comments of others, which are given in love, challenge you to be your
very best for the Lord. Rumors or criticism, which are for the cause of
spreading untruths, or out of jealous, must be ignored. We must recognize
the source of speech where the truth has been disguised, which is not from God.
The Lord will be the one to judge every idle word in His time and way.

We find every effort rewarded when we give our best, including our speech,
to the Master. Our reward and blessings are from God. The best is returned to us
in abundant blessings when we trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not
to our own understanding.

In all our ways we are to acknowledge Him, and He promises to direct our paths.
Our prayer should be as the Psalmist David in Psalm 19: 14. "Let the words
of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer."

Blessings in Christ,

~BITTER OR BETTER?~

In all of life's many problems
God has given us a choice,
We can become bitter or better
But must always choose to obey God's voice.

There will always be opposition
And words that may wound along life's path,
But if we abide in the Blessed Savior's love,
He will keep our souls free from anger or wrath.

We are challenged by life's many problems
And spoken words which seem to fall like rain,
Although it rains on the just and unjust,
The righteous have power, through His holy name.

We have no reason to be alarmed
As we face the storms of life in faith,
Jesus will keep our souls from harm,
As we let Him lead in the straight and narrow way.

"A Jar Of Figs"

"A Jar Of Figs"
"For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish." 2 Corinthians 2:15
At times I will smell a bad odor in my house. When I do, I go on the search to find the source. Sometimes the source is easier to find than at other times. One time I kept smelling something in the kitchen that was not very pleasant and could not find what it was. I checked the trash. I looked under the stove top. I put cleaner down the drain. I even tried to look behind the refrigerator. Still I couldn't locate it. But I didn't give up. After a couple of days I finally discovered it. There was a jar of figs sitting on the top shelf in one of the cabinets that had come unsealed. I couldn't see that it had come unsealed because of where it was located. But eventually the contents of the jar began to seep out and drip down to the bottom shelves. Not only could I smell the source of the odor but now I could see it. Once I threw the jar away and cleaned up the mess the odor was gone.
Did you know that there is an "odor" that is emitted from our lives? It is either a pleasant one or a stench. We either "smell" good or we "smell" bad.
What are some of the things that make us "smell good"? These things not only make us "smell good" to God but to the people around us. Praise and worship to God out of a pure heart. Our obedience. Genuine love. Being living sacrifices. Faithfulness. Being trustworthy. These are just a few.
What are some of the things that make us "smell bad"? Again, these things make us "smell bad" to God and other people. Hypocrisy leaves a bad odor around us. Lack of trust in God. Lying. Insincerity- just flattery. Unfaithfulness- to keep our word, to our relationships, to do what is required of us by others. Disobedience. Harboring ill feelings, bitterness, hate and anger. All these are "bad odor causers" in our lives.
Some of the bad smells that come from our lives are easy to discover, some aren't. But if we don't deal with them when we spot them, like my jar of figs, eventually, not only will they be smelled but they will be seen and then everyone will know the source of our "stench".
Which smell comes from your life- good ones that are well pleasing to God and make others want to find the source of the lovely fragrance- or bad ones that are a stench in the nostrils of God and turns others away in disgust from God. You either "smell good" or you "smell bad" and all the "perfume" or "air freshener" in the world, no matter how sweet, costly or pleasant it may be, can't cover up a bad odor. It has to be removed- just like my jar of figs had to be thrown away.
Have a great day. If there is a "bad odor" coming from your life, you can't cover it up, you have to throw the source of it away.

Rebellion

"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king." 1 Samuel 15:23
I had a dream last night that a friend of mine had an out of town friend visiting her and she introduced her to me. The out of town friend and I hit it off well and enjoyed our visit...until. During the conversation she started talking about tattoos and other things (I don't remember what all else). Once I told her that I didn't care for them because the Bible says not to have them, she became "irate". Her whole disposition changed. My friend who introduced me to her told her that her attitude was one of rebellion. I asked her why she was getting mad at me, I wasn't the one that said it, God said it in the Bible. Then I awoke from that dream. (Before I go any further, this message is not about tattoos- that was just the subject the lady in my dream wanted to defend.)
Don't shoot the messenger just because he brings you a message, he didn't write it- God did. Just because there are things we want to do and enjoy doing, it doesn't mean that it is all right with God. And when God says, "You shall not", but you do it anyway without regard to what He says, then it is called "rebellion".
Rebellion is not just going on out there in the world, it is happening in the church. Many Christians give very little regard to what God says- like in my dream. They do what they want to do even if God says not to. They place their will above His will and their wants above what He wants. They sacrifice obedience to His commands for the "right" to do what they desire.
The sad part is that they think God is going to overlook it or wink at it. When I was growing up and my daddy said, "No", he meant it and if I disobeyed and did it anyway, I faced the consequences. Do we think God is any different? Do we think that just because He said it He doesn't mean it? He does mean it, and He means for you to obey Him. There is not enough time in this devotional to give all the scriptures and illustrations about how serious God considers obedience. But I will tell you this- when we deliberately disobey because whatever it is is something that we want to do, God calls it rebellion. And God's definition of rebellion is no small matter- He equates it to "witchcraft". And the Bible is plain that those who practice witchcraft have no part with Him- now or in eternity.
So ask yourself the next time you decide to choose what you want over what God wants--- "Is it worth it? Is it worth sacrificing my obedience to God? Is it worth more for me to do this than what I will lose by doing it? Is it worth the consequences?"
Have a great day. You may want to do it, but doesn't what God says matter more to you? If you are a Christian it should, and obeying Him should be your top priority.

"Lovers of Pleasures"

"...lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God." 2 Timothy 3:4
This verse speaks of the condition of the hearts of men in the last days. I personally believe that we are living in the day and time described by these verses. That being the case, we should examine ourselves and take inventory of our lives to make sure that we haven't fallen and become among those described here.
One area in particular I want us to look at and address is that of "loving pleasures more than we love God". None of us believe that we are included among this group... but are we? One way to find out is by taking this little test.
1) Would you rather read a novel than read the Bible?
2) Would you rather go fishing on Sunday than go to God's house?
3) Do you spend more time watching television than you do reading the Bible?
4) Do you ignore the wooing of the Holy Spirit to pray because you are watching your favorite television program?
5) Do you drop everything that you are doing when your favorite television program comes on so that you can watch it? Do you drop everything when the Lord is speaking to you to spend some time with Him?
6) Would you rather spend time with your friends than time with God?
7) Do you spend more money on various forms of entertainment- videos, going to the movies, hobbies, etc,- than you give to promote the work of the Kingdom?
8) How much time to you devote to playing computer games? How much of your time is devoted to reading God's word and praying?
9) Do you spend more time on your hobbies than you do doing the work of the Lord?
10) Do you make time to do the things you want to do by rearranging your schedule to accommodate them but you won't do the same in order to spend some quiet time with the Lord?
11) Will you ask off from work to go on a hunting trip, but not to go to church?
If your answer puts pleasures- forms of entertainment- above spending time with the Lord, then you love pleasure more than you love Him? Has the desire to be entertained and have "fun" taken you away from your first love? Am I saying that we can never have any relaxation, sit down and enjoy a decent television program, enjoy some time working on a hobby, go watch a movie, play a video game? No, I am not saying that. What I am saying is that if forms of entertainment take the place of God in your life, if they are your priority, if you spend more time, money and effort on them, if you will make room for them but you will not do the same or more for God then, yes, something is wrong and you need to make some changes. You need to repent and begin to give God the proper place- which is first place- in your life again.
Have a great day. If forms of entertainment have priority in your life over God, then you love pleasure more than you love Him.

"Thy Will"

"Thy Will"
"Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:10
"Thy will be done". How often we pray this simple pray. But praying it and saying it is one thing, while meaning and following it is another. It's easy to say, "Let Your will be done", but what happens when the will of God conflicts with our will. What happens when His will takes us in a direction that we would not choose? What happens when His will doesn't line up with our plans and agenda?
When we say, "Thy will be done", we usually mean as long as it takes us to the "palace" not the "pit"; an "oasis" not the "desert"; the "mountain top" not the "valley". But the will of God doesn't always take us into bright, sunny, pleasant places. Remember Jesus was lead into the wilderness by the Spirit. And what about the cross- it was the will of God.
The will of God will often take us into places that we would not choose for ourselves. The places where His will would take us are not always easy- often they are hard. So what do we do then? How easy is it to submit to His will then? Do we surrender to His will or do we totally ignore it and fulfill our own will?
The will of God may not be a pleasant place at the moment, but it is taking us somewhere. For Joseph the pit was the first stepping stone to the palace. For Jesus the wilderness was the place where He got victory over the temptations of the flesh and empowerment for the work He was sent to do. For Jesus the cross, though it looked like a place of death, actually was the place that provided an open door to eternal life.
We need not fear or draw back from the will of God when it takes us into unpleasant places. We just need to submissively follow His will and trust that through it He is working all things together for our good and that even the unpleasant places are stepping stones that take us from glory to glory.
Have a great day. God's will is not always in accordance with our will, but choose to follow His will because it is taking you to a greater plan than you have for yourself.

Love My Attorney

My niece Ramona sent this to me today..I loved it and want to share it with you!

judge.jpg judge.jpg image by tea-tea1977
After living what I felt was a 'decent' life, my time on earth came to the end.

The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house.

The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table.

As I looked around I saw the 'prosecutor.'

He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen.

I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney, kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.

The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes.

He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room I couldn't take my eyes off of Him.

As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, 'Let us begin.'

The prosecutor rose and said,

'My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this woman belongs in hell...'

He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole, and In the past when I cheated others Satan told of other horrible Perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank.

I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about.

As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there
Silently not Offering any form of defense at all.

I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some good in my life - couldn't that at least equal out part of the harm I'd done?

Satan finished with a fury and said, 'This woman belongs in hell, she is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise.'

When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might approach the bench. The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to come forward.

As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in His full splendor and majesty.

I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus representing me, my Lord and my Savior.

He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, 'Hi, Dad,' and then He turned to address the court.

'Satan was correct in saying that this woman had sinned, I won't deny any of these allegations. And, yes, the wage of sin is death, and this woman deserves to be punished.'

Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with outstretched arms and proclaimed, 'However, I died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life and she has accepted Me as her Savior, so she is Mine.'

My Lord continued with, 'Her name is written in the Book of Life, and no one can snatch her from Me.

Satan still does not understand yet. This woman is not to be given justice, but rather mercy.'

As Jesus sat down,

He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said, 'There is nothing else that needs to be done.'

'I've done it all.'

The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down.. The following words bellowed from His lips..

'This woman is free.'

The penalty for her has already been paid in full.

'Case dismissed.'

As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving, 'I won't give up, I will win the next one.' I asked Jesus as He gave me my instructions where to go next, 'Have you ever lost a case?'

Christ lovingly smiled and said,

'Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent them has received the same verdict as you,

~Paid In Full~

If you do not pass this along to 15 people immediately, absolutely nothing will happen

.

Passing this on to anyone you consider a friend,
(as I have done here), will bless you both.

Instead, tell the storm how big your God is!

God Knows You

God Knows You

July 12, 2010

By Hal Donaldson

A friend asked recently, "Do you really believe God pays attention to
every detail of our lives?"

Knowing he had not committed his life to Christ, I took the
opportunity to share Luke 12:6,7: "Are not five sparrows sold for two
pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very
hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth
more than many sparrows"(NIV).

"Then," he asked with a hint of doubt, "I suppose you believe
everything happens in our lives for a reason?"

"You can go to extremes with that belief like blaming God if you have
a bad hair day but, yes, He is engaged with every significant aspect of
our lives. The Bible says He knows us from our mother's womb until we
are laid in the grave. All things work together for good for those who
follow Christ, and that's because He's watching over us every moment
of every day."

That led to a brief discussion about what it means to be a follower of
Jesus. (I'm confident it's only a matter of time before my friend
surrenders his life to Christ.)

On the Other Side

On the Other Side

A sick man turned to his doctor, as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, "Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side."

Very quietly, the doctor said, "I don't know."

"You don't know? You, a Christian man, do not know what is on the other side?"

The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side of which came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.

Turning to the patient, the doctor said, "Did you notice my dog? He's never been in this room before. He didn't know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.

I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing... I know my Master is there and that is enough.

Follow Jesus Christ

Follow Jesus Christ

Many times in my life I have been in a strange town and did not know how to get to my destination. When I stopped for directions people would often say something like, "Go two blocks, turn left at the stop sign then go until you come to the fourth traffic light and turn right. You can't miss it." But I often did miss it.

However, once when I asked directions the man did not give me a list of directions but got in his car and said, "Follow me, I'll take you right to it." In a sense, that man became the way to my destination. In the same manner, Jesus is our way to heaven. We do not get to heaven by following a list of directions but by following Jesus Christ.

Skipping Church

Skipping Church

Lately, Pastor Mike had grown weary from the demands of his growing church. He was getting very little sleep and a couple of deacons had really been putting him to the test.

So, one beautiful spring Sunday morning he decided that he would feel better with a relaxing round of golf. Pretending to be sick, he calls the deacons and informs them that he is sick and will not be able to make it that day. He scheduled in a guest speaker so everything was under control without him.

As Pastor Mike was preparing to tee off on the first hole, the Archangel Michael looked over at God and said, "I'm sorry, sir, but what are you going to do? Pastor Mike called in to his deacons and said he was sick. He lied to them and to the church. And, he is skipping church all together. Shouldn't you punish him somehow for his behavior?"

"Sure," said the Father. "I'm going to make him hit a hole-in-one on every hole."

"A hole-in-one on every hole?!" said Michael. "That's not punishment. That's a blessing. No one has ever done that and you're going to help this lazy, lying pastor score a hole-in-one on every hole? How is that punishment?!"

"Who's he gonna tell?"

"Fruit"

"Fruit"
"Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?" Matthew 7:16
So many Christians think it's all about the "power"- power to do miracles, heal the sick, cast out devils, etc. That is part of what we have been commissioned to do, and God has empowered us to do His works through the Holy Spirit. But it is also about our "fruit".
Christians should be identified by their love, by joy, by peace and so on. Jesus didn't say that we would be known as His disciples by the miracles that are performed through our lives. Or by the number of demons that we cast out in His name. Or by how many people are healed as a result of our hands being laid on them. But He did say that they would know that we belong to Him by our fruit. He also said that men would know that we are His disciples if we walk in love toward each other.
Let me ask you this morning-- are you casting out devils yet you are abusive to your spouse? Are you laying hands on the sick and they are recovering, but you are arrogant and full of pride? Are you teaching and preaching the word of God, yet you are mean spirited and treat others badly? Are you doing the work of the Lord but you cuss your children out and you act like a tyrant in your home? Then something is wrong! Don't let the fact that you are doing many wonderful works in Jesus name deceive you into thinking that "all is well". It's not according to the rest of Matthew 7. And the Bible tells us that even the devils can do "signs and wonders".
We are told to be imitators of Christ. That means more than just in the area of works-- the first imitation is in the nature. And His nature is that of love. "Fruit" and "works" should both be evident in the Christian's life. But the works are not the proof of your Christianity, the fruit is.
Have a great day. Even the devil can imitate Christ's works, but he can't imitate His nature- the "fruit".

God and Weeds

God and Weeds

"Though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed" (Psalm 92:7).
Scripture Focus: Psalm 37

The War of the Weeds is very familiar to those who have a garden. Weeds multiply two or three times as fast as most plants and grasses, mature more quickly and develop new seeds within days.

Whether they drop in clusters, are airborne,

or send out rhizomes, the assault is relentless and deadly. How quickly, thickly and intricately they entangle themselves amongst the roots of the desired plants and grasses. Endless battle is something we must all learn to live with;

constant vigilance is in order if any control is to be maintained.

So it is with evil and evildoers. The attack of the devil and his minions is also relentless. The seeds of evil quickly, easily take root and entangle us. The wicked do sprout like weeds. We see evil assault our children and families, our co-workers, our nation, the world. For those who don't have the boon of a new life in Christ, the result is deadly.

But praise God!

There will be a day when the war is over: evil and its perpetrators will be no more.

Evil's destruction is a promise!

Pray for those you know who are caught in a tangle of wickedness and evil. Commit to prayer for their deliverance and ultimate freedom.

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26

"If He Walked In"

"If He Walked In"
"The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." Proverbs 15:3

I have something to ask you this morning. "If Jesus walked into the room where you were, would you do anything differently?" If He walked in would you change your speech and the language you were using? Would you change the channel on the television? Would you change your clothes? Would you try to hide something that you have in your hand? Or would you continue as you were?
I have a feeling that if Jesus did literally walk into the room where some, if not most, Christians were, they would start making some immediate changes- such as was described above. I want to leave you with a thought today, and the thought is another question. "Why?" Why would you do anything differently than you are doing now?
We should live as if Jesus were standing beside us all the time- because in reality, He is. He is with you wherever you are. He sees everything you do and hears everything you say. I think it is a little amusing, in a sad sort of way, when people that I am around will let a curse word "slip" and then say to me, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that". I understand that they are apologizing to me out of respect for who I am- and I appreciate that. But my reply is always, "You don't have to apologize to me, God heard you". He is the one that we need to be concerned about offending. If we will change what we do and what we say out of respect for an individual, shouldn't we be much more concerned about changing it before God.
A Christian's first priority is to please our loving Heavenly Father- in our actions, attitudes, speech, attire, conduct, etc. If we will strive to do that, we would never have to worry about or change anything we are doing if He really were to walk into the room.
Have a great day. Are you living your life as if Jesus is always standing there watching? The reality is--- He is watching!
