Palm Sunday ~ The King Is Coming

That is how Jesus entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Not on a white stallion..but on a donkey. He had told his disciples to get the donkey because He had need of Him. The donkey probably was not worth much to the owner..but he was worth a lot to Jesus. The disciples placed some of their clothes on the donkey..then Jesus sat on it...and rode into Jerusalem. The throngs placed palm branches and clothes in the path of the donkey..and really gave Jesus (and the donkey) the red carpet treatment so to speak.
They hailed Him King of the Jews. What a change in just a few hours and days from that momentous ride into Jerusalem...their cries of Hosannas...changed to Crucify Him...and by Friday He was hung on the cross between two thieves..never having sinned..only done good all the days of His life.
But what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world..but lose his own soul. Jesus gave His life a ransom for many..He could have called ten thousand angels to save him..but guess what? We would be forever lost. We have no friend like the lowly Jesus.
Read about the story in Matthew 21:1-11

If You Plant...
If you plant honesty, you will reap trust.
If you plant goodness, you will reap friends.
If you plant humility, you will reap greatness.
If you plant perseverance, you will reap victory.
If you plant consideration, you will reap harmony.
If you plant hard work, you will reap success.
If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation.
If you plant openness, you will reap intimacy.
If you plant patience, you will reap improvements.
If you plant faith, you will reap miracles.
But
If you plant dishonesty, you will reap distrust.
If you plant selfishness, you will reap loneliness.
If you plant pride, you will reap destruction.
If you plant envy, you will reap trouble.
If you plant laziness, you will reap stagnation.
If you plant bitterness, you will reap isolation.
If you plant greed, you will reap loss.
If you plant gossip, you will reap enemies.
If you plant worries, you will reap wrinkles.
If you plant sin, you will reap guilt.

More Pictures at Schagen
Here is a picture of the Frisian dress competition in Schagen. They were dancing here in this picture..the Frisian foot dance. The host introduced each participant..and explained what each part of their dress clothing meant or represented. Look at the large church in the background which was located in the central part of the main business square. I did not get a chance to go into it..there were many flights of stairs a person would have to climb..and I was really not up to that at that time to get to the top. But many folks did.

Inside Museum
While in Schagen we visited a Museum of old Frisian dress..and how they lived many years ago.
The picture is of a lady wearing the traditional frisian clothes..sewing by the table. You will see many other interesting things displayed as well.
One of the things I have always enjoyed is history. Visiting museums is like reading history books..only you get to see the pictures displayed right before your eyes.

Train Ride
My cousin Reintje from Zaandam and I , went on this train to go to Schagen. It was a very nice trip..she does not drive nor have a car..as many people do not have one. She mostly takes her bike to do her shopping. But if she wants to go to another town she will take the bus or train..which ever is the most reasonable to take at that time.

God Is....

God Is...
He is the First and Last, The Beginning and the End!
He is the Keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!
He is the Architect of the universe and the Manager of all times.
He always was, He always is, and He always will be...
Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!
He was bruised and brought healing!
He was pierced and eased pain!
He was persecuted and brought freedom!
He was dead and brought life!
He is risen and brings power!
He reigns and brings Peace!
The world can’t understand him,
The armies can’t defeat Him,
The schools can’t explain Him, and the leaders can’t ignore Him.
Herod couldn’t kill Him, The Pharisees couldn’t confuse Him, and The people couldn’t hold Him!
Nero couldn’t crush Him, Hitler couldn’t silence Him,
The New Age can’t replace Him, and “Oprah” can’t explain Him away!
He is Light, Love, Longevity, and Lord.
He is Goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.
He is Holy, Righteous, Mighty, Powerful, and Pure.
His ways are right,
His word is eternal,
His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me.
He is my Savior,
He is my guide, and He is my peace!
He is my Joy,
He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and He rules my life!
I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and His goal for me is abundant life.
I follow Him because He is the Wisdom of the wise, the Power of the powerful, the Ancient of days, the Ruler of rulers, the Leader of leaders, the Overseer of the overcomers, and is to come. And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size...
His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me,
never forsake me,
never mislead me,
never forget me,
never overlook me and
never cancel my appointment in His appointment book!
When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face Death, He carries me Home!
He is everything for everybody everywhere, every time, and every way.
He is God, He is faithful. I am His, and He is mine!
My Father in heaven can whip the father of this world.
So, if you’re wondering why I feel so secure, understand this...
He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side,
and that means all is well with my soul.
Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!
I love the Lord and thank Him for all that He has done in my life.
God Bless You and Keep You Until We Meet Again!

Amazing Grace by Kelly McFadden “Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.” Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” – Luke 7:47-48 John Newton, the author of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” found faith in Jesus onboard a ship as it was floundering in a storm. This was not just any ship; the ship he was on was a slave ship. In the mid 1700s, Newton’s professional trade was the trafficking of human life. Newton and his crew would sale from England to Africa where they would pick up men, women and children who had been captured in tribal raids. They would trade arms and other goods for the finest of the prisoners. They would then chain them to prevent suicides, and lay them below deck side by side. As many as 600 people were stuffed together on the ship as it made its three week voyage. Due to the inhumane conditions, at times, up to 20% of those captured would die. After becoming a Christian, Newton left the sea for good and became a priest. He then wrote this hymn. You have probably sung it before, but read these words carefully knowing now why he wrote them. Amazing grace, how sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like me,I once was lost, but now am found,Was blind, but now I see. ’twas grace that taught my heart to fear,And grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appearThe hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils and snares,I have already come.’tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,And grace will lead me home. God’s mercy and grace drastically changed John Newton’s life. He understood God’s unconditional love better than most. When I read those words through the eyes of someone who truly realized he did not deserve grace, I am humbled. Too often I chalk up all the good things I have done and wait for what I think I deserve; however, according to the Scriptures, the truth of the matter is that I deserve judgment. And, I don’t really want that! I am thankful for God’s generosity and that He sent Hs one and only Son to die for us so that we would not get what we deserve, but that we would get His generous love and eternity with the Father. This is truly amazing grace! as seen in “Today’s HomeWord,” a daily devotional with Jim Burns. Visit them online at www.homeword.com |

Serving for God's Glory

Serving for God's Glory
7. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.
8. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins."
9. Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.
10. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1Peter 4:7-11 NKJV)
Verse 7: Jesus could come back in judgement at anytime. Therefore we should all be ready to give a reason for the way we have lived. Because Christ could be coming at anytime Christians should seriously curb or get rid of any sinful passions we may be entertaining, in light of of the coming of the Lord. Peter in this verse urges us to be sober-minded (serious) and disciplined so that we can offer our prayers to God.
Verse 8: Peter is not suggesting that one Christian's love atones for another Christian's sins. Rather, by introducing this proverb from the Old Testament (see Pro. 10:12), he is reminding us that love does not stir up sins. We can demonstrate our love for our fellow believers by truly forgiving them and not talking openly about their past sins.
Verse 9: In the New Testament times, hospitality typically meant housing and feeding travelers for two or three days with no expectation of payment in return. Being truly hospitable required personal sacrifice. Therefore many who performed such acts of kindness to strangers sometimes complained behind the backs of their guests about the hardships of caring for them. In this letter, Peter exhorts those Christians to serve others cheerfully.
Verse 10: Every believer is gifted to serve. Stewarts are managers or trustees who will be held accountable for using their gift in the best interest of the One who gave it to them.
Verse 11: Those who teach God's truth to others should teach it in a reverent manner so that their hearers will respect the Word of God. Not relying on their own strength,Christians should use the power God gives us to do His will on earth.
1Peter 4:7-11 NKJV and Commentary.

Only One Way!!

"Lord I give you my heart. How about you have you given the Lord your heart yet, if not please don't wait too long. The Bible says it is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgement. Anyone that tells you that you can die and be born into another creature is telling you a lie straight from the greatest liar of all--the devil! He is the father of lies. He will tell you anything to keep you from the truth. He will tell you, you have plenty of time, or he will tell you that you are Okay and don't need to accept the Lord, that there are all kinds of ways to heaven. Not so my friend! There is only one way, that is God's way he made for you and me.
And He is the only way!
He himself said, " I am the way the truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by me." John 14:6
Would you like to make Jesus Lord of your life? Please say this prayer with all your heart and you will be a child of God and on your way to heaven.
“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”

What About Illegal Immigrants?

What About Illegal Immigrants?
Hello Friends! Just what about these illegal immigrants that are seeking, to receive amnesty and respect here in the USA?
There was another large protest on Monday throughout the country, if you want to call it that. A day without the immigrants is what they called it. They did not work, nor went to school, and many closed up shop for the day, to seek amnesty and respect from our government and people.
I have no idea what your stand on this is, but as a legal immigrant about 56 years ago and already a citizen of this great country , by choice, for 46 years it disturbs me! I see nothing but trouble coming to this country, should these illegals be given amnesty.
There is an old saying "give them an inch and they will take a mile". This is what I see coming if something is not done about this situation. First the govenment allows the illegals to become citizens, then others who break the laws of the land will be allowed benefits as well. As a Christian a follower of Christ, we are to obey the laws of the land as long as they do not oppose the laws of God written in His Word, the Bible.
The laws of our great land were written and should be carried out to protect the people of this land who are here legally. How could we ever respect a person who comes here illegally and not through the right channels?
I understand that many Americans, who visit the country of Mexico, must come into the country legally and large fines and penalties are imposed on those who break the laws of their land. I say what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Let those countries who allow their people to come into this country illegally be fined and penalties be imposed, and then make them pay for their deportation. Then they can deal with them there in their country, I believe if this would be enforced on both sides we would see a significant reversal of illegals in this country.

~Choices~
Each day we make many choices
We all chose which path we will travel in life
There is only one choice in which we can rejoice,
Jesus waits to receive us, He'll take away sin and strife.
The broad road leads to destruction
Those who walk this way are being lead astray,
The narrow road leads to eternal life,
Jesus has gone before us. He's prepared the way.
The choices we make each day
Determine our future and eternal destiny,
We must make our calling and election sure,
Jesus will lead us, if we will seek Him and pray.

You Know How It Feels
You Know How It Feels
by Alan Smith
During Napoleon’s invasion of Russia, his troops were battling in the middle of yet another small town in that endless wintry land, when he was accidentally separated from his men. A group of Russian Cossacks spotted him and began chasing him through the twisting streets. Napoleon ran for his life and ducked into a little furrier’s shop on a side alley. As Napoleon entered the shop, gasping for breath, he saw the furrier and cried piteously, “Save me, save me! Where can I hide?” The furrier said, “Quick, under this big pile of furs in the corner,” and he covered Napoleon up with many furs.
No sooner had he finished than the Russian Cossacks burst in the door shouting, “Where is he? We saw him come in.” Despite the furrier’s protests, they tore his shop apart trying to find Napoleon. They poked into the pile of furs with their swords but didn’t find him. Soon, they gave up and left.
After some time, Napoleon crept out from under the furs, unharmed, just as Napoleon’s personal guards came in the door. The furrier turned to Napoleon and said timidly, “Excuse me for asking this question of such a great man, but what was it like to be under those furs, knowing that the next moment would surely be your last?”
Napoleon drew himself up to his full height and said to the furrier indignantly, “How could you ask me, the Emperor Napoleon, such a question? Guards, take this impudent man out, blindfold him and execute him. I, myself, will personally give the command to fire!”
The guards grabbed the furrier, dragged him outside, stood him against a wall and blindfolded him. The furrier could see nothing, but he could hear the guards shuffle into line and prepare their rifles. Then he heard Napoleon clear his throat and call out, “Ready! Aim!” In that moment, a feeling he could not describe welled up within him; tears poured down his cheeks.
Suddenly the blindfold was stripped from his eyes. Although partially blinded by the sunlight he could see Napoleon’s eyes looking intently into his own — eyes that seemed to see every dusty corner of his soul.
Then Napoleon said, “Now you know.”
There are some things that simply cannot be described to you. If you haven’t experienced them for yourself, you can’t begin to know the feeling. If you’ve never sat by the bed of your father while cancer eats away at his body, you can’t begin to know what it feels like. If you’ve never had a spouse walk out the door knowing they will never return, you can’t begin to know what it feels like. If you’ve never had to bury a daughter before she was old enough to ride a bicycle, you can’t begin to know what it feels like.
The list could go on and on. Eventually, I would get to what weighs on your soul. You have friends who try to comfort you by saying, “I understand,” but deep down you know they don’t. They can’t. Not without experiencing it for themselves, and you wouldn’t wish that on them.
What that means, though, is that you are in a position to minister in a special way to people who are suffering the same thing that you have suffered in the past. God is able to use your past painful experiences to help others in a way that no one else can. If you have had to deal with an alcoholic family member, you are in a position to minister to others in that situation. If you have suffered the death of a young child, you are in a position to minister to others in that situation. If you have raised a child as a single parent, you are able to minister to others in that situation.
The list could go on and on. Eventually, I would get to what you have suffered in the past. It was painful. It was tough to get through. But having done so, be aware of the opportunities you now have to be of service to others. You know exactly how they feel. Let them know that.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

Christmas, Just an "Exchange Religion"?
A few years ago, in an article in World magazine, Marvin Olasky noted that the emphasis on material gifts at Christmas may make us think of Christianity as just one more “exchange religion” – meaning, you do something for a god, who will then do something for you. The pagan citizens of Rome some 2,000 years ago readily recognized what “liberalitas” were – giving to please the receiver of the gift, who will then at some point want to please you. The common mind set of ancient Rome was that it was better to give than to receive, because by clever giving to wealthy friends, you could receive more in return back from them. Unfortunately, they applied the same concept theologically, offering sacrifices as investments.
Those early believers in Christ did something far different than the pagans. They practiced “caritas,” providing help to the economically poor, without any expectation of receiving something in return. They did that to imitate Christ, who was unjustly abandoned, tortured and killed for the sake of all who believe in Him. They praised God’s willingness to pour his grace over those who had done nothing to earn it.
Christmas is about God’s caritas. While today we display artistic scenes of the baby Jesus lying in a manger as a way to decorate for Christmas, we need to take time to recognize that the incarnation for God was the most humiliating action that could ever happen. For God to become flesh, to leave heaven and become a part of His own creation, is far worse than if you or I had born as a dog.
And yet, Christ showed caritas right to the last, by telling one of the thieves dying alongside Him that they would be together in paradise.
Here is your copy of firstIMPRESSIONS, Volume 5.48. Live for God, on purpose, demonstrating the true spirit of Christmas giving – giving even as Christ gave of Himself.
